On 13 December 2023, Mr. Tran Minh, Chairman of Vietnam Union, made a business trip to Thailand to meet a partner (Mr. Peter, a Czech billionaire) on implementing a brown coal mining project in Mongolia and restarting the rail freight route (minerals, food, etc.) between Vietnam and Mongolia. The trip went smoothly and successfully, and Vietnam Union and its partner reached a number of important agreements, especially an investment cooperation agreement.

During the trip, besides work, there were interesting and memorable side stories: at the check-in counter for the flight from Hanoi to Thailand, Mr. Tran Minh happened to meet Mr. Michael, a blind American man flying alone to Bangkok. Being blind, Mr. Michael faced many difficulties, not only in getting around but also with the language barrier with Vietnamese people. With a kind heart and readiness to help people in difficulty, Mr. Tran Minh immediately greeted and assisted Mr. Michael. Throughout the journey, from the check-in counter at Noi Bai airport until the plane landed at Suvarnabhumi airport (Bangkok), Mr. Michael walked with Mr. Minh’s attentive support and guidance through immigration procedures, boarding and leaving the plane, checking and collecting luggage, buying taxi tickets, and more. Before saying goodbye and getting into the car, Mr. Michael expressed deep gratitude to the person who had helped him throughout the flight. This small but meaningful act by Mr. Tran Minh reflects the friendliness, hospitality and good qualities of the Vietnamese people in the eyes of international friends.
