On 25 June 2026, Tomáš Helebrant, Chairperson of the Czech Republic – Viet Nam Interparliamentary Friendship Group, held a working session with Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam at the Czech Chamber of Deputies, saying legislative cooperation has developed positively.

Prague, 25 June 2026 – According to Vietnam+ (VNA) on 26 June 2026, Mr Helebrant said legislative cooperation has developed positively in recent years, reflected in more frequent high-level delegation exchanges. He cited Senate President Miloš Vystrčil’s visit to Viet Nam in November 2025 and the two sides’ coordination at multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asia–Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP).
He said the Chamber of Deputies and the Friendship Group value relations with the Vietnamese National Assembly and hope for more delegation exchanges, sharing of legislative experience and coordination at interparliamentary forums. He described the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic as united, well integrated and a contributor to local society, and saw considerable room for cooperation in economy and trade, defence, education, science and technology, and tourism.
Proposals by the Vietnamese Ambassador
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam thanked the Group for its support in strengthening cooperation between the two legislatures and deepening the Strategic Partnership. He asked the Chamber of Deputies and the Group to continue supporting measures that facilitate travel for citizens of both countries, and to encourage the Czech Government to resume the bilateral skilled-labour cooperation programme and introduce visa exemption for holders of Vietnamese official passports.
