On 24 August 2026, a Hanoi delegation led by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Do Anh Tuan held talks with Prague Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček at Prague City Hall, Czech Republic.

Prague, 24 August 2026 – According to Vietnam+ (VNA) on 25 August 2026, both sides want to strengthen cooperation in urban planning, heritage conservation, infrastructure and investment.
The Hanoi side said Czech investment in Hanoi since 1989 totals nearly US$23 million and large-scale projects remain limited. Hanoi wants to learn from Prague’s experience in renovating the old quarter and the area around Hoan Kiem Lake, converting relocated industrial sites into cultural spaces and parks, and developing social and affordable housing through public–private partnerships.
The Prague Deputy Mayor described the Czech Republic’s long-standing heritage protection framework and how Prague handles tourism pressure and climate adaptation in its UNESCO-listed historic centre.
Proposals to expand cooperation
Hanoi proposed expanding cooperation to transport, smart cities, science and technology, digital transformation, culture, education, trade promotion and tourism. The same day the delegation met the Vietnamese Embassy; Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam recalled the Strategic Partnership upgrade of early 2025 and said about 100,000 Vietnamese and people of Vietnamese origin live in the Czech Republic.
