On 21 November 2025, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks in Hanoi with Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil, during the latter’s official visit to Viet Nam from 18 to 22 November 2025.
Hanoi, 21 November 2025 – According to Viet Nam News, the visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1950–2025), the first year of the Viet Nam – Czech Republic Strategic Partnership framework, and the 10th and final session of the 15th National Assembly.
Chairman Man said the visit strengthens traditional friendship and parliamentary cooperation. He thanked Mr Vystrčil for presenting, on behalf of the Czech Government, support worth about VND3.5 billion (around US$132,810) to help people in Viet Nam recover from recent storms and floods. He stressed that Viet Nam regards the Czech Republic as its first Strategic Partner in Central and Eastern Europe, and recalled recent high-level exchanges, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the Czech Republic in January 2025 and Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s visit to Viet Nam in April 2023.
Trade, investment and EVIPA
Both sides identified trade and investment as pillars of cooperation. The Czech side cited the Škoda automobile plant and the Mong Duong 2 thermal power plant as joint projects. Mr Vystrčil said the Czech Parliament supports the ratification of the EU–Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) by the remaining EU member states.
Cooperation directions
According to the source, the two sides agreed to expand high-level exchanges between legislatures, including oversight of bilateral treaties; to soon develop an action plan for the Strategic Partnership for 2025–2026 (trade, education, energy, defence, tourism); and to encourage airlines to study direct flights. The Czech side thanked Viet Nam for its visa exemption for Czech citizens and described the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic as a bridge of friendship. Mr Vystrčil invited Chairman Man to visit the Czech Republic, and the invitation was accepted.
